A swarm can be implemented as a parallel
search mechanism; in this case the agents interact with the environment
through a collision detection algorithm, but they intentionally lack any
particular search function. Despite not having any specific goal, their
interactions overtime generate differentiation of spaces: Starting evenly
distributed, agents inhabit 'niches' in different spots of a site model. |
